Strange Fruit: London 1979
Strange Fruit was formed by Geoff Castle and guitarist Ric Morcombe in the late 70s to play original fusion compositions. An album "Debut" was recorded at Abbey Road Studios by producer Mike Jarratt and issued on President Records PTLS 1073 in 1980. This album was recorded over a two year period when the personel was changing featuring Brian Smith and Tim Whitehead on tenor sax, Rick Morecombe, Ed Speight and Robbie McKintosh (from the Pretenders) on guitars, Rob Burns, Paul Townsend and Billy Kristian on bass guitar. Roger Sellers on drums and Geoff Castle were on all the tracks. A later album "Fresh Fruit" was recorded in 1981 but due to record company problems was never released.
